Q:  Can any Bluetooth handset be used with the 3M Peltor WS Alert?

A:  Because Bluetooth has a universal standard developed by a consortium of interested companies, almost all Bluetooth handsets should be able to use with 3M Peltor WS Alert. However, because of the differences in the quality of the handsets and Bluetooth firmware, you may encounter different levels of functionality from one handset to another.

Q:  Can I change the pincode?

A:  No, the pincode required for pairing cannot be changed. The pincode is only needed for the first pairing with each compatible handset.

Q:  Do I need to change the ear cushions and the foam when they becomes dirty?

A:  We recommend you to change them every six months if you use your hearing protectors on a daily basis. A new hygiene kit refreshes your hearing protectors and makes them like new.

Q:  How is the Bluetooth connection established between the compatible handset and the Peltor WS Alert?

A:  When the connection is created for the first time, you must enter the Bluetooth pairing pass code (0000) into the mobile handset. Connecting Bluetooth devices with each others is referred to as pairing in Bluetooth terminology. To pair your Peltor WS Alert with a handset follow the steps below: 1. All functions OFF at the WS Alert headset. (If necessary remove and reinstall batteries.) 2. Press at least 8 seconds on the Bluetooth button on the left cup. (Press the button until a tone is played in the headset) 3. Search for new Bluetooth unit ”Peltor WS3” according to the directions for use of your handset. 4. Enter PIN “0000” on the handset if requested. 5. Press 8 seconds on the Bluetooth button

Q:  How many handsets could be connected to the 3M Peltor WS Alert?

A:  Up to eight different handsets can be paired with a 3M Peltor WS Alert, although only one can be active at a time. The last or most recent pairing is automatically active.

Q:  I am having problems pairing/connecting my Peltor WS Alert with my handset?

A:  If you encounter problems with pairing or connecting to your handset please follow the instructions below 1. Disable the Bluetooth functionality in the handset. 2. Turn off handset 3. Remove battery 4. Install battery 5. Start handset 6. Enable Bluetooth functionality. 7. Retry the pairing procedure according to the user guide. 8. If the headset does not connect properly please try to restart the headset If this does not work upgrade your handset to the newest release of the handset firmware. Please contact handset manufacturer for further assistance.

Q:  I have to wear glasses together with hearing protectors. How does that affect the attenuation?

A:  One thing is sure: glasses affect the attenuation level! Try to wear a pair of glasses with thin arms that fit close to the head. Also make sure the ear cushions on the hearing protectors are soft and you will keep the noise leakage on a low level.

Q:  What does the CE-mark on the shell tell me about your hearing protectors?

A:  It tells you that Peltor as a manufacturer has had the hearing protectors tested at an independent testing institute in accordance with the CE standards (EN 352-1 for ordinary hearing protectors and EN352-3 for hearing protectors attached to helmets). The CE standards tell us as a manufacturer to provide a certain level of information - for example, full information about attenuation including H, M and L values (attenuation at High, Medium and Low frequencies) and also SNR (Single Noise Ratio).

Q:  What is Bluetooth wireless technology?

A:  Bluetooth is an industrial specification for wireless personal area networks (PANs). Bluetooth provides a way to connect and exchange information between devices such as mobile phones, laptops, PCs, printers, digital cameras etc via a secure, globally unlicensed short-range radio frequency band (2,4GHz). This versatile feature can wirelessly connect compatible handsets to your Peltor WS Alert for hands-free calling.

Q:  What is the difference between pairing and connecting?

A:  Pairing is a one-time process that must be completed in order to connect your handset to your Peltor WS Alert. The paring process is handset dependent; therefore users should be familiar with the setup, or Bluetooth menus of their handsets. For customers using the recommended handsets the process is fairly straightforward. Paring with non-compatible handsets may not be possible. Once paired, the portable handset will automatically connect to the Peltor WS Alert when you activate the Bluetooth functionality, provided Bluetooth is turned on in the handset. The handset will normally connect within 30 seconds, but it may take longer depending on BT timing.

Q:  What is the pincode?

A:  The pincode is 0000.

Q:  Which Bluetooth profiles are supported?

A:  The Peltor WS Alert supports the Headset and Handsfree profiles.

Q:  Which handsets can I utilize?

A:  Bluetooth handsets can vary in quality and contain different Bluetooth firmware and profile support. Therefore, not all Bluetooth handsets will operate at the same level.

Q:  Which hearing protector is the best?

A:  You can’t say that one hearing protector is better than another just because it has a higher SNR value. The best hearing protection is one comfortable enough to make you wear it a full working day and not overprotecting you, which will make you feel isolated.

Q:  Why can the talk time and standby time differ with the products specification description?

A:  The talk time and stand by time will differ based on different brands’ mobile phones, different distances between devices and different Bluetooth link status (active, sleep, sniff mode etc.)
